Dress Code

Bottoms may NOT have stripes, colored trim, large logos, embroidery, sequins, or any other decorations. Belts must be worn if garment has belt loops.

Dollar Bill Rule: To determine the acceptable length for shorts, skorts, and skirts, simply hold a dollar bill horizontally between the top of the knee and the bottom of the clothing. This will give you the minimum length that is permissible for your child. Please remember that students grow considerably during the school year. Clothing that fits properly in August may be inappropriate by February.

Tops: Navy blue, royal blue, gold, red, and white are the only approved colors. Polo type shirts with a collar are acceptable. All T-shirts must be Southwest T-shirts with the school logo (these are available in the front office). Shirts must have long or short sleeves (no sleeveless). Knit polo-type, woven dress shirts, blouses, turtlenecks, as well as school t-shirts are all acceptable. No sequins, embroidery, or other decorations may be on shirts. All shirts must be tucked in. Shirts may not be rolled or flared around the waistline. Belts must be visible.

Shoes: Must be safe and appropriate. Tennis shoes are preferred for safety reasons and must be worn on PE days. Shoes must be enclosed and not have a heel. Socks must be consistent with the rest of the uniform.

Jackets, sweaters, and sweat-shirts: are acceptable. They must be the appropriate size. Any logos, pictures, embroidery, etc. must be appropriate for school. Hoods may not be pulled up on campus

All clothes must be appropriate size, with the waist of the garment worn at the student’s waist. Clothes that are too loose or tight may not be worn.

Mandatory Uniform Information

It is important for our students to be dressed for success each and every day that we are in school. By following the dress code, students will be prepared and will not miss class time to correct dress code problems. In this handout you will find information about dress code as well as our bell schedule and procedures for arrival and dismissal. If you have any questions or need uniform assistance, please let us know.

Morning Arrival:

Morning Drop Off: 7:30 A.M. First Bell: 7:50 A.M.

Tardy Bell: 8:00 A.M.

Car riders and walkers may not arrive on campus prior to 7:30 A.M. as there is not supervision until that time.

If you plan to have your child eat breakfast at school they must arrive by 7:45 A.M.

Students that arrive on campus by car must be dropped off in the car rider line.

Walkers must walk from off campus. They may not be dropped off on the street out front or in the parking lot.

Students arriving after the 8:00 A.M. tardy bell must be escorted to office by parents. Remember, three unexcused tardies is equal to one unexcused absence.

Afternoon Dismissal Bell: 3:00 P.M.

If you need to change how your student will get home please write a note in their agenda and/or call the office before 2:30 P.M. No changes will be taken after 2:30 P.M. (12:00 on Early Release Days)

Students may not be checked out from the office from 2:40-3:30 (12:10 on Early Dismissal Days)

Please remember, three unexcused early checkouts (any time prior to dismissal) equals one unexcused absence.

Car riders must go through the line with a car tag. Parents may not walk up to the cafeteria or office with tag to pick up students.  If car tag is forgotten, parents will need to wait until 3:30 and pick up students with their picture ID from the office.

Walkers must dismiss through the walker gate. Parents walking to pick up their students from the gate must be parked off campus.

If you have a parent conference after school, please let the teacher know if your students are supposed to stay on campus to meet you or go home the regular way.
